For Wee Wallet Wednesday today, we’ve decided to showcase this awesome, Simple Fair Trade wallet! This cool wallet is handmade using recycled rice and feedbags. The bags are imported from Vietnam and Cambodia, where once the feed has been used the bags are purchased and collected by a group in Phnom Penn. The bags are then cut, sewn and assembled into various eco accessories.
The groups, who assemble these accessories are made up of underprivileged Cambodian artisans who are landmine and polio disabled. Their training has enabled these artisans to become self-supporting and confident and to see themselves as individuals with abilities that contribute to the development of Cambodia. Due to the excellent quality of the products they produce, this group was awarded the 2004 UNESCO Seal of Excellence; for Handicraft Products.
These wallets offer six credit card slots and a full size paper money compartment. I happen to think this wallet (and the project) is eco-awesome! I have a couple of friends in mind that will be receiving one as a gift.
You can purchase the wallet at the Global Exchange Store for $13.50 HERE.
