We all know that tech industry is really trying to reduce its environmental impact with everything from cleaner manufacturing techniques to reducing packaging sizes. Apple’s been scoring some eco points from organizations, however, the company is still lagging behind other brands like Dell and Panasonic. But that’s not stopping us Apple “luvin” fans from digging the products.

Green My Apple
In a recent study from The Diffusion Group and recounted by redOrbit, almost one-third of the Internet users picked Apple as the leader in eco-friendly technology. In this survey’s second and third places were Dell and HP at 21 and 15 percent.
These perceptions are very different from the environmental scores in Greenpeace’s September “Guide to Green Electronics.” This was the ninth edition of Greenpeace’s evaluation of market leaders’ policies and practices on toxic chemicals, recycling, and energy. Apple’s current score is a 4.1 out of 10, which puts the company behind Sony, Toshiba, Dell, Acer, HP, and Panasonic. It’s tough to think that your beloved Apple isn’t up on it’s “greening”. Believe me I know. I love my Apple, more then any human should love electronics.
Highly-publicized statements like Steve Jobs’ “A Greener Apple,” and things like Apple’s slick marketing and cardboard-slimming package design, probably contribute to Apple’s image of being the most eco-friendly tech company, but unfortunately it isn’t. My fingers are still crossed that Apple will catch up to it’s competitors in the green movement. I don’t want to have to consider moving on over to Hp, or Dell. Green it up Apple and hurry!
