Our friends over at FreeGreen.com are at it again!
FreeGreen has just joined forces with R-Control, the largest SIP (structural insulated panels)
Manufacturer and distributor in the U.S. They are expecting to release new SIP based house plans bi-monthly from 2008 to 2010. Each plan will be designed to meet different markets, demographics and geographic locations.
The plan is to release 10 free SIP based house plans now. The first installment of these plans is called the Rustic Retreat, and is now available on FreeGreen.com.
High-cost, high-design modules have dominated the prefab market and some consider this to be “prefab” failure, as documented in articles seen on JetsonGreen.
FreeGreen has creatively responded to this by partnering with R-Control to develop a unique alternative for “green” home consumers.
FreeGreen’s motivation is clear in their progressive building practices as well as their ever growing free green home designs.
David Wax, CEO of FreeGreen Inc., explains;
“The combination of our free house plan business model and R-Control’s panelized, super energy-efficient product is the perfect solution to low cost, green home building. The plans are free, of the highest quality, and easily customizable. R-Control’s high performance SIPs are integrated into the designs and the consumer has the flexibility and choice to work with laborers to build their home.”
Thanks to FreeGreen and their continued efforts, building a site-built green-home can be an easy and affordable option!

At the launch of FreeGreen.com last Spring I said to myself, <i”These FreeGreen people are on to something, something big, and we need to be involved. “ As Director of Development for the Montana-based Big Sky Insulations/R-Control I initiated talks with Dave Wax and my initial reaction was confirmed . Together we shared the dream and now the first SIP-based FreeGreen plan is hatching. I feel like a the father of a newborn again.
It has been wonderful working with Dave and the FreeGreeners. I believe they really understand how their business will succeed, but more important, why it’s so vital that green home design penetrates into mainstream, middle America. Only when mainstream, middle America builds and lives in the most energy-efficient structural envelope will the country begin to turn the tide of expensive and destructive energy waste. My thanks go out to Dave and all the FreeGreen visionaries for making this partnership become a reality.
FreeGreen is creating the future of how America designs homes. We are creating the future of how we build them. Who’s with us? What are you doing?
