Purolators Quicksider EV will be tested and evaluated for performance on the streets of Toronto. Purolator runs 10 hrs. a day in downtown Toronto, delivering about 220 packages with zero greenhouse-gas emissions. It uses two electric motors and charges overnight in just six hours. The Quicksider is the latest innovation in Purolator’s Canadian fleet.

The Quicksider is made and owned by Toronto based Unicell Ltd., in alliance with ArvinMeritor, the supplier of the drivetrain components. A second-generation, Quicksider is already in the works and should be ready for road testing before the end of the year.
The Purolator electric vehicle is expected to save 40% on fuel costs, plus with its advanced electric drivetrain, the Quicksider EV is expected to require less maintenance than a conventional diesel-powered curbside delivery vehicle.
In addition to the Quicksider EV prototype, Purolator added 30 new hybrid-electric vehicles to its curbside delivery fleet across Canada, (28 in Vancouver, 1 in Ottawa, and 1 in Montreal). The vehicles join Purolator’s national green fleet, which includes 19 HEVs and one fuel-cell hybrid electric vehicle in service in Toronto since 2005.
