Starwood Hotels and Resorts announced plans to open a LEED-certified Element Hotel in Palmdale, Calif., in June of 2010. The 123-room hotel will be located in northeastern Los Angeles County and will be owned by Condor Hospitality.
Elements at the Palmdale location will be designed to help guests relax and recharge. Brian McGuinness, (VP of Element and Aloft Hotels}, said “our guests will be able to experience a whole new perspective on extended stay travel while enjoying premium family entertainment, championship golf and a variety of outdoor recreation offered in scenic Antelope Valley.”
Element is the nation’s first chain to have all hotels pursue LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Other locations include Georgia and Texas. For a look at all locations, visit this page http://www.starwoodhotels.com/element/ourhotels/locations.html.
The Element Palmdale characteristics will include energy efficient appliances and lighting and low-flow faucets and fixtures. Waste will be reduced through recycling and the use of biodegradable plastics. They will even offer eco-friendly “Do Not Disturb” door magnets, plus drivers of hybrid cars will have seniority over parking spaces. That’s taking green to a whole new level!
Element Palmdale will incorporate smart design, natural touches and eco-friendly construction. The hotel will provide travelers with an intuitive, “eco” setting where they can thrive while traveling on a greener road.
