Al Gore made a surprise debut Saturday at the Netroots Nation conference in Austin, Texas. About 2,000 “left-leaning” bloggers and political organizers gasped as the former V.P. took to the stage. Gore encouraged the activists to assemble for global climate protection by amplifying his “call to generate” the nation’s electricity from renewable sources like solar, wind and geothermal with in the next 10 years…

Gore joined Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during her session at the convention and applauded the bloggers as being at the forefront of reclaiming American democracy.
“Thank you for the movement that you have created,” Gore said. “I can’t tell you how important I think it is that you continue what you are doing.”
Gore expressed a no-nonsense attitude when he talked about the climate problem and it’s relation to the economic and security crises of U.S. dependency on foreign oil.
Gore enthusiastically said he is trying to enlist 10 million grassroot environmental activists and hopes online organizers will help in this effort. “The economics of renewables is becoming very attractive,” Gore said.
We all know that the media and the web are great ways to become involved, gain insight and knowledge. I think Gore’s call to action for bloggers is a great effort on his part to continue to spread his environmental message.
