With the economy these days, many people are looking for ways in which they can save, whether it’s with food, gas or homeowner costs.
I was recently introduced to an awesome website, Green 3D Home, which helps homeowners make their homes more energy efficient by reducing energy consumption. Green 3D Home helps you do this by providing energy saving tips, tools to analyze your homes energy efficiency, community based ideas, tricks and solutions, energy calculators and even connections to builders, designers and green building products.
If you’re interested in reducing you home’s energy consumption and making a significant contribution to improving the environment, you’ll want to sign up and become a member of this site.
Once you get set up, you’re presented with questionnaires and the means to help profile and better understand the energy use in your home. For example, your windows, doors, roofs, solar panels, and insulation can be reviewed for performance. With the tips presented, you’ll learn how to save money by being directed to links and downloadable applications for local, state or provincial (for Canadians) incentives and rebate programs in your area.
Green 3D Home has mentioned that in the future the site will allow for 3D modeling of a home, analysis of the 3D model for energy efficiency, and storage of all relevant home attributes such as room sizes, energy bills and repair history.
A very cool element to the site is the community building and sharing of information regarding your home through projects that others share on the message boards. Members can contribute energy savings to a virtual state or provincial wide pool. Being green can mean so many things, but one huge factor in being eco-conscious and sharing your knowledge with those in your community. To me, this is an awesome resource!
