The warnings about the effects of global warming have become one of today’s hottest topics. Films, videos, news, businesses, benefit concerts and bloggers are all trying desperately to raise the world’s eco awareness, but being green and following an eco path can be a tough job for some.

I thought it might be helpful if I organized some of the internets top green directories, forums, and video sources in hopes that going green won’t feel so daunting or feel so confusing. Within these sites, you’ll find everything and anything you can imagine to facilitate going green. If there are some sites we have not mentioned, my apologies. Please feel free to add them to our comment section for all to see. Hope you enjoy!

Freecycle Network is made up of 4,675 groups with 6,363,000 members from all over the world. It’s a grassroots and nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. I visit this site quite often and I’m sure you will too if you don’t already.

EcoStreet is an independent, pioneering directory and forum dedicated to raising green consciousness. They always have great content, probably why I’m hooked.

Elephant Journal is your guide to ‘the mindful life’ like yoga, organics, sustainability, spirituality, conscious consumerism, the arts, and anything that helps us live a good life and is also good for our planet. Founder Waylon Lewis is hilarious. His videos are a must see.

EcoTrotters is an online eco travel community that helps travelers make informed decisions when booking an eco hotel. They help provide travelers with reliable eco hotel recommendations written by other site users and eco travelers interested in merging ecology and travel. In order for a hotel to be listed as an eco hotel on their website, it must comply with a certain number of eco guidelines. Anyone who travels with an eco-conscience should check these guys out.

Green Thinkers is a site where you go to discuss and present ideas on how to live a green life. There are always great ideas posted from cool greenies. I’m always learning something new.

Earth911 is the ultimate guide for all you need to know about reducing your impact, reusing what you’ve got and recycling your trash. You can get involved by checking in for daily news, reading weekly feature stories, and surfing product channels. And trust me, you will do all of those things.

No matter where you are on the journey toward a lighter, more eco-friendly lifestyle, they’ll help you along the way and they truly mean that. Green Living needn’t be expensive. In fact, saving resources and saving money go hand-in-hand. Greening your diet needn’t mean expensive foods, it just means being smarter about the kind of things you’re already buying. Whatever you are greening, Green Living has solutions, answers and great green advice.

Green.alltop helps you explore green information by collecting stories from “all the top” green sites on the web. Think of Green.alltop as a “digital magazine rack” of the Internet. I visit this site a few times a day. They make reading green news easy and fun.

This guide is not a paid directory; companies cannot pay to be included because they have already met their strict standards of eco-friendliness. You really can find anything you need or want on this site. A bit addicting.

CTN GREEN is comprised of 4 blogs, a video gallery, a full screen virtual magazine, news portal and an art gallery. Need I say more? This site is dedicated to the entire spectrum of sustainable, green, eco living. I’m happy they exist and you will be too.

The moms behind Green Mom Finds know that being a parent is hard enough without having to worry about whether the toys you buy are toxic or the baby shampoo you are using is safe. They understand that you’re a parent and time and energy are at a premium, therefore you’re not always able to search high and low for safer more eco-friendly alternatives, so they do the work for you. A must visit for any parent, or anyone soon to be.

Very interesting list, a lot of good tips too from the everyday “green” people to going a more extreme level of green in your life.

If anybody lives in South Carolina, there’s a great “going green” website just for that state, it covers a lot of different areas, its at http://www.green.sc
