A few years ago, there was little impetus for anyone to buy a green hybrid car. It seemed as if it was only the die-hard people passionate about the environmental who considered buying an eco-friendly car.
The times have changed dramatically and more and more people are not just facing up to fears of climate change but are looking to do something utilitarian about it. More Than insurance company conducted a survey in 2006 that revealed that up to one in six people would consider switching to a hybrid car. Since then, sales of hybrid cars have more then doubled.

Car insurance companies have responded to the change in consumer behavior by offering “eco-friendly” policies. One of the first companies to offer “eco insurance” was CIS. The policy offsets 20% of your car’s CO2 emissions by investing in projects like reforestation, renewable energy sources and third-world education schemes.
More recently, other car insurance companies have come forward with eco-friendly policies as well. More Than offers new customers “free carbon offsetting” for the first 3,000 miles, if you buy your insurance online. Hybrid, electric cars and alternative fuel vehicles are offered a discount of up to 15%.
You should look at all premium payments carefully before making a decision on your insurance because most of the eco-friendly policies are competitively priced.
Most of us have been moved to pay attention to environmental issues in recent years and it’s cool to see that insurance companies are encouraging motorists to go green with their incentives. Drivers are more and more concerned over the impact they are having on the environment. Simply, eco-friendly policies are good for the heart, the head and the environment!
