Valentine’s Day, love it or hate it, seems to creep up on us the moment Santa has turned his reindeer Pole-bound.
I happen to think Valentines Day is one of the least romantic days of the year. Yes, you heard me right. The majority of people act like robots, purchasing traditional flowers and chocolates for their sweeties because that has been done year in and year out. Valentine’s Day is more about the excessive and the superfluous these days and most people celebrate the holiday out of obligation rather than celebration.
Given the state of affairs around the planet (wars, global warming, instability in countless nations), I’d like to encourage people to celebrate this Valentine’s Day the green way. A way that lets your loved ones know that you want to do something good for the place we all call home.
Yes roses, chocolates, and wine scream out romance to your loved one on Valentine’s Day, but at what eco cost? While you’re planning a sweet treat for your loved one, don’t forget to be sweet to the planet. Whether you’re green at heart or not, show your love with creative eco-friendly gifts this year. Think organic, sustainable, eco, and green. It’s hip, cool, and way more sexy.
