Catch up on this week in green. Grab an organic coffee, or tea and enjoy!

  • Spring break has turned into a huge, money-making, right of passage for students and families across the United States. Head on over to Planet Green to find out how to have a green spring!
  • Drinking bottled water might keep you in good shape, but the millions of water bottles discarded every day in landfills are ruining Mother Earth. Ecofriend has a great article on recycled plastic bottle art projects; however, encouraging youths to stop using plastic bottles is more prudent.
  • Are biofuels worse for the environment than oil? The Good Human has a great article on why they think essentially it’s just taking one kind of burning fuel and replacing it with another, and in the mean time nothing changes. It’s a great must read. Click here.

  • Want to avoid phthalates and preservatives in your perfume? Then head on over to EcoFabulous for a review of Bazil Essentials. Made with all natural and organic ingredients, the scents are concocted using essential oils.
  • As part of New York’s efforts to go green, the NYPD is rolling out 40-2009 Nissan Altima Hybrids for use during regular patrol. The vehicles get around 35 miles per gallon, which is about twice  that of the current fleet of Chevy Impalas and Ford Crown Victorias. Read the full article from Inhabitat here.
  • Care2 did some research on multiple consumer advocate sites and discovered the Environmental Working Group’s compilation of the most pesticide-laden fruits and veggies. Head on over to Care2 and get the list on what foods to avoid or when to fork over your cash for the organic version.
