There have been some great green techie products that have recently come on the market. I’m sure you have seen some of the coolness in my recent posts. Asus’s EcoBook happens to be one of my favorites. However, as I’m sure you know by now, (because I mention it all the time), I am a die-hard apple fan/junkie. But Apple hasn’t really been on the leading edge when it comes to “green” gizmos, in my opinion.
Apple announced on the 9th it’s fourth generation IPod nano, the thinnest IPod to date. This sexy new design with curved aluminum and glass enclosure comes in 9 radiant colors, including PRODUCT RED.
The difference with this nano as opposed to its predecessor is that this generation includes eco-friendly components! These new nanos are using arsenic-free glass, are BFR-free, mercury free and PVC-free, as well as highly recyclable. This is the greenest iPod ever made!
It’s definitely a step in the right direction. I just ordered one for my brothers B-day, not only for the coolness of the nano, but of course for the eco goodness of it too! My hope is that Apple will keep going with green innovations and become a leader in the field of eco- friendly consumer electronics. They do have eco efforts already in motion, like a recycling center, but I do think they need to step it up just a tad in the electronic department, which I know they will!

What an interesting and great idea! I noticed that companies are trying to get into the ‘green’ groove of things to appeal to a wider audience. Even Google has created an eco-friendly version of their search results page that uses less energy on your computer. It’s great to see this change in big companies.
