Eco-Friendly Wedding Tips from Treehugger

Green Wedding

Green Wedding

Today, one of my younger brothers became engaged. (congrats John and Jessica)! I noticed that Treehugger just announced that Lesley Nagy, host of the syndicated TV show “Your Green Life,” decided to take some pointers from TreeHugger’s guide on How to Green Your Wedding.

Nagy will attempt to make an example of how environmentally sound a wedding can be, without forfeiting any traditional rituals associated with customary weddings.

According to Climate Care, an organization that offsets harmful carbon dioxide emissions, the average wedding emits around 14.5 tons of CO2, markedly more than the 12 tons emitted by the average person during a whole year.

Nagy will be participating in interviews on her own wedding day. Since there are an estimate of 2.5 million weddings per year, the greener these grandiose events can be, the better. I hope I will be helping my brother and my future sister-in-law plan for their wedding this year and that they’re ready for e-cards and organics!

Thank you SO much for this posting.

As we are in the wedding business, this is certainly a piece of information that we can pass along to our brides to be.

We all need to make an effort to change for the better.

That’s really great to hear that you feel you can use this information for your clients!

It really is true that every little bit counts, in all areas of life. If one person, makes a green effort today, that they didn’t make yesterday, that’s awesome!

Thanks for spreading the green word to the Brides to be!

Those are staggering statistics for environmental impact of the average wedding! Glad my husband and I ran off to get married by ourselves!
