About Modern Eco Homes

There are many ways to “go green” and tune into nature, especially when it comes to our homes, what we eat, even what we wear. At Modern Eco Homes we provide you with reviews and recommendations on a wide variety of eco-products. All of our items are chosen from the Internet’s most popular Web sites. We work with over 50 merchants (and growing daily) whose “green” product base is sourced from socially and environmentally responsible businesses. Our green product selections are based on our merchant’s categorizations; however, you can rest assured that each product we’ve selected for Modern Eco Homes offers some element of greenness. And when compared to non-eco alternatives, the products that make it to our site provide the same, if not better, look and quality!

Our goal is to bring environmentally friendly products to everyone, of all economic and socioeconomic levels.  So while some of the products at Modern Eco Homes are more eco-friendly than others, we firmly believe that embracing eco responsible businesses makes a difference. I like to think that I came onto the MEH team when the site was still a baby. With continued dedication, the other team members and I have helped this site grow into so much more that it originally started out as. What I love about working on Modern Eco Homes is that there is never a dull moment and I am constantly challenged to think outside the box. And best of all, I’m learning more about Green living than I ever though possible…while finding really cool products at the same time!

I currently live in a very, very small town in California, at the base of the stunning Sierra Nevada Mountains. Besides being attached to my laptop 24/7, I also love being outdoors – hiking, photography, camping and exploring. The fact that I live in a perfect place to enjoy all of those things with my friends and family makes life wonderful. As a mother of two very active children, a wife and a business woman, every waking moment is filled to the brim with hardly a second’s rest, but I love every moment of it…well, maybe almost every moment, if you know what I mean.

As a Modern Eco Homes contributing writer, I’m all about going green to save a little green! I often find when I make simple eco-friendly choices, I’m not only opting for a sustainable alternative that’s better for the planet, I’m able to improve my quality of life and even save a few bucks. Case in point: CFL bulbs. For just a few more dollars initially, CFL bulbs provide a cleaner, brighter light than incandescent ones while using 75% less energy and lasting nearly 10 times longer.  See what I mean?

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, nestled at the base of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Subsequently, I’m big on hiking, camping, and pretty much anything that has to do with the great outdoors. I like to think of myself as equal parts fortified feminist and domestic goddess (though my husband may beg to differ on the latter). I’m addicted to diet coke with lime and sadly (or perhaps not-so-sadly, depending on who you ask) reality television. I am blessed to do what I love for a living: writing, especially on topics I’m passionate about including green living and the latest cast-off of The Biggest Loser.
